Uber Eats driver Amy Tobin reveals she makes $433 per WEEK after her retail job

A young Australian retail and customer service employee has revealed how she earns an extra $433 per week by delivering for Uber Eats in her spare time.

Amy Tobin, from Melbourne, works 38 hours a week in her retail job – before she hops into her car every night and also over the weekends to deliver food.

Between Monday and Sunday last week, the delivery driver said she made $433.64 from her fares after completing 48 trips over 21 hours.

‘The earnings for me have been pretty good,’ she said in her YouTube video.

‘Overall I made $433.64. So from trips, I actually made $414.76 and then $8 of tips and then there are also promotions. So one of them was between 6pm and 8pm, it’s 1.2x surcharge – and that boosted my payments up by $10.88.

‘For me, that’s really good. I am deducting $50 per week of tax there so I can save that for when it comes to tax time, and I’ll pay that directly to the ATO.

‘I’m located in the north east suburbs of Melbourne and we’ve only recently got Uber Eats so I feel as though there are not too many drivers here.’

Amy said she keeps all her receipts for petrol in a glove box and documents the kilometres she’s driven after each shift.

‘With petrol, my tank is around $80 and I drive a Volkswagen Golf, it’s pretty efficient on fuel. I use my weekly pay to do that,’ she said.

‘I have another job, a 38 hour week, I would need to fill up my tank anyway and I would still have some leftover. With that some leftover I use that for driving Uber.

‘If you don’t have a full time or part time job, you may want to be aware that you need to deduct those fuel costs.’

To earn some extra tips on top of the amount she already makes, Amy said she always keeps an eye on the ‘promotions’ tab in the app which can earn her as much as $10 extra a night.

‘There are some [promotions] during lunchtime but for me, they are mostly in the evenings when I’m getting that surcharge,’ she said.
